Builtsy

Privacy Policy

Effective ·

The short version: we use your info to run the project you applied to or bid on. The person hiring sees your application; other contractors never do. We only send you Builtsy tips if you tick the box, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your info any time. We don’t sell your information.

Who we are

(“Builtsy”, “we”) makes Builtsy, an app for documenting construction projects. Project owners use Builtsy to post projects, collect contractor applications and bids, and run their jobs. Contact: .

What we collect

  • When you apply to a project: your name, company, email, phone, trades, service area, whether you’re licensed and insured (and your license number if you give it), years in business, crew size, earliest availability, website, notes, which link you came from, and a record of exactly what you agreed to and when.
  • If you’re shortlisted: your Builtsy account email, your bid (prices, timeline, notes, line items), files and photos you attach, voice-note transcripts, and questions you send the owner.
  • If you use Builtsy for your own projects: the photos, documents, notes and team members you add.
  • Basic usage: which pages and suggestions you open, so owners see simple counts (e.g. “40 people viewed the project”). To stop spam we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address for a short time — never the address itself.

How we use it

  • To show your application to the project owner and let them contact you about that project.
  • To run the Bid Room and send project emails (application received, shortlisted, hired, not selected).
  • To send Builtsy beta list emails (early access and tips) — only if you tick that box. Unsubscribe from any email.
  • To keep Builtsy secure and working, and to improve it.

We only call or text you about the project you applied to. We don’t send marketing texts.

Who can see it

  • The project owner you applied to sees your application and bid. Other applicants never see your information or your bid.
  • Service providers who run Builtsy for us, under contract: Supabase (database and file storage), Netlify (hosting), Resend (email delivery) and Anthropic (AI that writes short applicant summaries for owners, turns dictated notes into bid line items, suggests questions about a project, and translates between English and Spanish). They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
  • If the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety or our rights.

We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising.

AI

AI helps owners read applications faster, translates between English and Spanish, and helps contractors turn notes into line items. People make the hiring decisions — not the AI.

A note about Builtsy’s founder

Builtsy’s founder may also post their own projects on Builtsy. Using Builtsy, or signing up for its tips, has no effect on who gets hired.

How long we keep it

  • Applications that aren’t selected are deleted automatically after the period the owner sets (12 months after the decision unless the owner chooses otherwise), unless you’ve signed up for Builtsy tips.
  • If you’re hired, your information stays with that project’s records.
  • Builtsy tips: until you unsubscribe.
  • Spam-prevention data is deleted within a couple of days.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from Builtsy tips with the link in any email.
  • Delete your info: use the “Delete my info” link in any project email, or email . We’ll remove your application and bid within 30 days.
  • See or correct your info: email .

Security

Information is encrypted in transit, files you attach to a bid are private, and access is limited by account and role. We test these rules automatically. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects you, we’ll tell you.

Other details

  • Builtsy is for adults (18+) and businesses in the United States.
  • We don’t track you across other websites, so we don’t respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
  • If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and tell you by email for big changes.
